Cartographic Map Competition

Introduction to Cartography and Topography

This course provides a general introduction to cartography and topography, broadly defined as the art, science, and ethics of map making and map use, and fundamental solid skills for geographical and environmental research and studies. The course focuses upon the design of maps, drawing from research and practice on graphic design, information visualization, and semiotics, on studding coordinates systems including transformation techniques and methods, understanding mathematical models of the earth together accompanying with several selected projection models, and realizing advanced techniques and tools of modern mapping, including web cartography platforms.

Best Student Cartographic Map Competition: The competition is utilizes field mapping and the creation of cartographic maps as a major component.
